Alejandro L. Vázquez, Ph.D (he, él)

Dr. Vázquez is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He received his B.A. in psychology and M.S. in clinical mental health counseling from Florida International University. He completed his Ph.D. in the Combined Clinical/Counseling Psychology specialization at Utah State University and his pre-doctoral clinical internship at the Medical University of South Carolina within the child emphasis track. He also earned a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Research Methods and Analysis – Quantitative from Utah State University. Dr. Vázquez’s research program focuses on reducing health disparities among Latinx youths by (a) improving scientists’ ability to identify youths at risk for developing emotional and/or behavioral problems, (b) understanding mechanisms underpinning caregiver help-seeking behaviors in response to youth mental health problems, and (c) developing measures to support research and clinical practice with these underserved youths.
